Listed in rough order of how often they turn out to be the culprit — not a diagnosis of your specific machine. Work top-down: the cheap, free checks first, then test before you buy anything.
Ice maker turned off, or a full-bin arm stuck
The metal feeler arm (or a switch) shuts the ice maker off when the bin is full — it can get bumped to OFF or stuck up. Free to check first.
Clogged or overdue water filter
A filter past its 6-month life chokes water flow to the ice maker (and the dispenser). The single most common ice fix.
Frozen fill tube / water line
The small tube that fills the ice tray can freeze shut, especially if the freezer's too cold. Thaw it (a hair dryer on low) — free.
Failed water inlet valve
This valve opens to send water to the ice maker. When it fails, no water reaches the tray. Needs adequate house water pressure (40+ psi) to work.
Failed ice maker module/motor
If water fills the tray but it never dumps the cubes, the ice maker assembly (the motorized module) has failed. It's a bolt-in replacement.
